Habbits are Hard 2 Break

It's been well over a year since I blogged very seriously. With all that is going on in our lives now, it seems extrodinarily hard to break the no blogging habbit.

All the tools are in place, but finding the time is paticularly the tough part.

I had to change server companies recently, which was a huge headache. I was tired of getting double billed and having to clean up the mess. Their service was awful, but I'd bee with them for 4 or so years. That's an eternity in internet years.

So I broke the habbit of getting abused for a service I was paying for. I had major problems with the server move. After the initial setup of all the sites on the new server, someone deleted half or most of the files after somehow getting my root password. Then went to my registrar and edited some of my account info for my domains.

Anyway, I'm glad that part is all over. I need to now break some other ver hard habbits. In the long run, it will be a healthy process. The road there will be difficult.

g33k @ p4rk

Upgraded from my Treo 650 to a 700p this weekend. A bit better camera and Sprint's Power Vision make it a bit nicer. I had been carrying 2 phones. The other being my Samsung A920. I'll probably sell them on ebay as this will be my one and only until the iPhone comes out for Sprint.

Anywho...at the park with the boys. For those that haven't heard from me in a while, on this blog or otherwise...my wife and I welcomed two of six siblings into our home just before Thanksgiving '06. Their other two brothers will be joining us shortly also. We hope to have them all adopted by the end of the year. It is probably the craziest, best thing we've ever done.

Now...back to my dad duties!

Alive and Kickin' It...Yo.

Don't read too much into this entry...

I haven't posted since the move and probably won't post again too soon. I have quite a bit on my plate right now. Aside from my day job, I've got a couple video projects to complete and at least one album to mix before May. It looks possible that I will be recording one or more CDs as well.

Since I haven't updated recently, I'm guessing not many will read this! If you do, know that we are still here and all that goodness. I've recently got into MySpace.com and have a profile there. You can check it out by going to:

http://www.myspace.com/strobealific for my personal profile or
http://www.myspace.com/marcbowyer for my music site.

You deserve a break today!

Well, every blogger has done it. It's now my turn. It isn't like it will be much different considering my posting has been sparse, but I'm going on a blog vacation.

I wanted to make it official with a post. With moving and all the hassles included, I've decided to just face the inevitable. I debated whether it was time to do something different or give it up altogether. I'm not ready for that yet. I might have some use for this site yet.

I'm not promising anything, but the soonest I'll be back is probably late November. I really need to get some of my other "business" sites off the ground when I get settled, so I'm not sure when I'll be back.

You can still reach me by emailing MaRc At StRoBeAlIfIc.CoM or calling me via my toll free number...if you know that. Obviously, you want to change "at" with "@" and the case doesn't matter. Oh yeah, my AIM login is BowyerMarc if you want to go that route.

Now...on to the business of moving.

Big, Big News

First off, let me apologize to those of you whom we hoped or promised to visit while we were on vacation in St. Louis. We really wanted to see each of you, but we simply did not have enough time. We really needed to just relax a bit...and we did. We were also up to a few other things...

About three years ago, God started speaking to me about moving to California. Two and a half years ago we were making plans to move. I thought God wanted me to get back into the music industry as a recording engineer, but he had other plans. Three months after moving, my wife and I walked into Shepherd of the Hills church to visit in October of 2003. I found out they needed an audio director and interviewed the next day. They hired me, but it was for Production Manager of the media department.

After much prayer and contemplation, I have submitted my resignation as Production Manager at Shepherd of the Hills. I truly believe that God led me to Shepherd and did not think I would leave after such a short period of time. Shepherd is a great church and God is moving. Without my time and experience here, I believe I would not have been given the opportunity to become Audio Director at Grace Church, St. Louis, MO. God has made it clear to me that I belong in full-time ministry and he has blessed me with this new opportunity in the area of audio, which has been my lifelong dream.

So, we will be moving back to the Midwest in November. I'm excited to be heading closer to home, but sad to be leaving Los Angeles. I'm also very happy to be near friends. Grace Church St. Louis is a bit smaller than Shepherd, but is still a very large church. We immediately felt welcomed and like family at Grace, but will miss our
friends and family at Shepherd and here in Los Angeles.

I look forward to talking with some of you individually and hopefully seeing you sometime in the near future.

To our Los Angeles friends and family: please give us a call so we can hook up before leaving town. We don't plan on staying away forever, but it might be a while before we can come back and visit.

Fun in St. Louis

I promised some posts during vacation, but I've been a bit busy. I've mostly had no internet connectivity either, but that's not much of an excuse because of my posting ability via phone. Anyway, this trip has been relaxing and a blast. I'll work on a post with details when I arrive home and settle in this next week.

Lost All Respect

I haven't really had time to blog lately...or even comment on the hurricane disaster, but I need to say this.

I've lost what respect I had left for Oprah. She is trying to make this a "black" issue and it is not. It is a people issue. There is a lot of blame to pass around.

The Bush administration has not been perfect in the situation by any means, however the mayor of New Orleans played a major role in this and he has done nothing but pass the blame around. He, the mayor, had earlier chances to do something and evacuate people. It took a call from the President to URGE him to evacuate before he did so.

And don't even go into how the Bush Administration didn't do anything about the levies...I've seen proof that the choice was made during the Clinton administration in the 90s. I don't have the links right now, but if you want them I'll email them to you.

War and Peace Work and Vacation

I've been trying to work out details, but I'm pretty sure that they are just about finalized. I'm actually taking a vacation! While this might not been incredible news to some of you, it is a big deal for me and Kristina. It has been well over 2 years since we took a full vacation and over 1 year since we took some time off for just ourselves on an extended weekend trip. You know what we've been through the past two and a half years and we need this time off in a major way.

We will be spending time with Tim and Heather Hatch in St. Louis between Sept. 16 and 26. We probably will be taking a drive to Indiana at some point during that 10 days. So if you have some time available during that window of dates, let us know.

Please pray for us during the time leading up to the trip. With my and Kristina's responsibilities at work, we will require lots of prep work to make this trip work. The weekend prior to this trip we are going to a wedding up the coast, then I have to go with our staff at church away for two days for the annual staff retreat. It will be a very busy time.

We also request your prayers for safety during the trip and that God will line some stuff up for us. I am attempting to "work" during part of my trip to offset some expenses. If you know of a church within an hour or so of St. Louis, I am seeking locations for presenting technical arts training seminars in the areas of sound, lighting and video.

Back in the saddle

If you can't tell, I go through blogging spurts. Tonight, I'm motivated mainly from boredom. I'm mixing again at B.B. King's at Universal City Walk for Eating Alice. Had to be here for a disasterish sound check at 5. They don't go on until 8:30 or 9ish. Now I sit here at Tony Roma's killing time.
