Jazz at La Ve Lee
Today was frustrating with the whole car situation, but the evening made it better. A friend was singing back-up for someone at La Ve Lee tonight. I thought it was going to be my first time there. When I walked in the door, I realized I had been there before. My best man took me there the night before my first wedding in California. Yes, I had two weddings. A legal one and a church one.
Back to my story. Tonight, Kristina and I saw Stephan Oberhoff with an excellent band including: Sandro Albert, Enzo Todesco, Katisse Buckingham and Cassio Duarte. Also, there was a female singer (don't remember her name) and my wife's best friend's husband, Ken Stacey. They wowed the crowd. I must go back.
I really want to go back and see Marco Mendoza. That's who I saw my first time there over five years ago. He is still there on a regular basis. No pun intended, but you music lovers might know he plays bass(es). He has a trio with a keyboardist and drummer. Last time, I was blown away by his ability on the six-string bass. I'm sure he is still amazing.

Excuse my french
Some bastard backed into my car today. Hit and run. I'm not very happy. In Ohio and Indiana, you call the police and they come out and take a report. They look at the damage and at least pretend to make you think they are working on it.
Here in California, specifically the San Fernando Valley, they just take the info over the phone. "I'll call you back with an accident report number and you can call it into your insurance," says the piece of crap traffic police operator.
What if I want the stupid freak who hit me to pay for it? and not me or my insurance? What is this going to do to my insurance rate? Son-of-a-bitch.
If it's my neighbors across the street, I'm gonna be so pissed at them for not leaving a note or knocking on the door. The way the damage is...it looks like it came straight from their driveway...and is the same color as their vehicle.
The other possibility is the idiot poolman. That would just top it off after all the other crap we have been going through with our electricity and air and stupid pool crap. You pay rent for the freakin' pool along with your house and we haven't been able to use it for a month and a week.
O.K. rant complete, for now.

Today was a crappy day. My energy has left the building. Try the veal, tip your waitress.

Monday again.
It's very late and I'm tired, but today was a good day. I thought it would be another typical Monday. It was for the most part.
I've been talking to Chris Pirillo, of Lockergnome and techtv fame, via email and IM's for about six years. Today we finally met face to face. He's a great guy and I think we are on our way to a great friendship. He is one of those guys that are exactly as they seem via TV. Very cool guy.
Pretty good Monday. Goodnight.

In the meantime, enjoy and test yourself.

Soda Pop Update 1
I went to the store and got some cool stuff to try.
I'll try to give a better review tomorrow with more details.

In the meantime...
I'm doing some part-time work for the cousin of a friend of my mother-in-law. It's actually a pretty cool job at a cool place, but not something I would like to do (or afford) for a long time. It's flexible evening shifts at a rehearsal studio, Clear Sound Studios.
Basically, bands come in and rent a rehearsal room by the hour, day, week or month. A room includes a sound system, bass & guitar amps and a drum kit.
I should be able to meet a lot of contacts this way. I hope.

Soda Pop
If you know me very well, you know how I love my soda, especially Coca-cola. One of my favorite drinks is Henry Weinhard's Root Beer. It's extrememly hard to find in the midwest, but is carried by our local supermarket, Ralph's. This made me a very happy boy.
Then this weekend on The Food Network, my wife and I viewed an episode of "Unwrapped" which featured specialty sodas and drinks. As luck would have it, a store with one of the USA's best selection of beverages is located in L.A. I'm gonna have to make the trek over there this weekend to grab some old hard to find favorites and maybe a few new-to-me items. They even carry Ale 8-1 and Dr. Pepper Original Recipe.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

It's getting hot out herrrre...
Well over a hundred degrees this weekend and today (Monday) so far. It's not as bad as the midwest with the humidity, but it's still hot. We have a huge pool in our backyard of the house, but it is currently being resurfaced. We will have to suffer a little longer until next week.
At some point, I will try to upload some photos of the house and the area, etc., when I'm not miserable and afraid my camera will melt. In the meantime, I'm thinking about going to the Knott's Water Park or at least running through the sprinklers.

I'm a bad bad boy...
Whatever readers I had are now probably gone. I've totally been preoccupied with moving. The good news is...we are finally in Los Angeles, California.
I promise to write more later, but it's late and I need to do lots of stuff in the morning.
